I was a Special Guest at DomCon LA this weekend just gone - May 15-18.

I had a wonderful time! Last year I went to quite a few classes but this year I skipped them all in favor of socializing and events. And in practice, I’m not sure I would have had time for classes anyway.

I did manage to squeeze in a few sessions while I was there, mostly with local LA people who had contacted me in the past, and wanted to see me if/when I was in LA. They were fun and worth waiting for, but something of a sideshow compared to DomCon.

There were a lot of events. To the point where I can’t quite remember them all. So I have had to go back and refer to the event schedule to remember that I went to the Mistresses Dinner, the opening Red Carpet Social, The Pro Domme Social, the DomCon Play Party at The Sanctuary, the Mistresses DDI Photo, the DomCon Fetish Ball (again) at The Sanctuary, and the After Show Party. And even then I missed quite a few.

I also took the opportunity to meet up with a few LA friends. So I went out to lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and also caught an arts open studio in downtown LA.

But the best part of DomCon is meeting people – and I met so many lovely dommes. For example (and I have missed quite a few people out here I’m sure) Mistress Xena, Mistress Erika, Lady Grace, and Goddess Fae.

But perhaps the most interesting aspect of the conference was interactions with “vanilla” guests. The Hilton LAX is a huge hotel and there were lots of guests there who were not at DomCon. So there were plenty of situations where one might run into other guests. For example, riding the elevator, walking through the lobby, or passing by evening wedding receptions in the main function area. While the hotel  and DomCon organisers ask that DomCon attendees dress discreetly while in the main part of the hotel, a whole series of very tall women wearing black leather does tend to attract attention. But perhaps surprisingly, quite a few guests were interested and asked what the conference was about – and I even got to give out the website address to several. Maybe I'll get some new slaves from that? Perhaps domination is going mainstream?

So overall… A wonderful time. And I will go again next year…
